The Rich Youg Ruler
The Rich Young Ruler

And a ruler asked him, "Good Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?" And Jesus said to him, "Why do you call me good? No one is good but God alone. You know the commandments: Do not commit adultery, Do not kill, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Honor your father and mother."
Luke 18:18-20

Notice that even though Jesus is the Son of man he says "Why do you call me good? No one is good but God alone." Showing that even though he is the Son of man, he is still a servant of the most high.

And he said, "All these things I have observed from my youth." And when Jesus heard it, he said, "One thing you still lack. Sell all that you have and distribute to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come and follow me." But when he heard this he became sad, for he was very rich. Jesus looking at him said, "How hard it is for those who have riches to enter the kingdom of God! For it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle then for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God."
Luke 18:21-26

This we must pay careful attention to. For today in our world, although we may not feel like it, we are very rich. And Jesus says, "How hard it is for those who have riches to enter the kingdom of God! For it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle then for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God." There for I says to myself, watch where you place your money, use it not only for things of this world, but use it to serve the Father, whether it be in offerings or helping people go on missions trips, for God knows where our hearts lay. For as Pastor Pat or Ben, (I can't remember off the top of my head) has said, "were you put your money is were your heart lies." Jesus says "One thing you still lack. Sell all that you have and distribute to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come and follow me." I don't know if he is calling us to give everything we have away, but we must watch what we do, and follow the Lords will in what we do. Something I find myself thinking before I buy something now, Do I need it, or is it only something, I want? Not to say that we shouldn't get things we wont, just think about it before hand.

Those who heard it said, "Then who can be saved?" But he said, "What is impossible with men is possible with God." Peter said, "Lo, we have left our homes and followed you." And he said to them, "Truly, I say to you, there is no man who has left house or wife or brothers or parents or children, for the sake of the kingdom of God, who will not receive manifold more in this time, and in the age to come eternal life."
Luke 18:27-30

Is it not exiting to know that what we cannot even conceive, can be done by God!
